Pacific Blue
Pacific Blue
An interesting choice for inclusion in The DiscoMuseum is Pacific Blue. There is no known album and I doubt that the name was for a real group. A one-off 12" single on Prelude Records, an early one at that.
The song might be considered a double-sided hit, but here in Chicago it was the b-side track of
"You Gotta Dance" that was the charter. But I have read and seen the a-side "Argentina Forever" listed on club playlists. The blue-vinyl hit was written and produced by Michaele and Paul & Lana Sebastian and arranged by T. Lexter. It was published by Paul & Lana's Boona Music. This predates their work with Madleen Kane but just barely. It's assumed that the success that Kane brought to the U.S. dance floors allowed the Sebastians to license Pacific Blue to Prelude.
Both songs are downtempo, which at the time was going against the popular trend of uptempo tracks being played in the clubs. An excellent single that should be in any disco collection, if anyone has any additional information please share it with us.
