| One of the most successful vocal groups of all-time. Tim, Janis, Alan and Cheryl have won 8 Grammy Awards for their work. In 1981 they made history by becoming the only group to win Grammy's in the Pop and Jazz fields simultaneously. Long considered a "jazz" group, even though they have always maintained a variety of styles and genres. In 1979 they ventured into the disco genre with an unlikely number. They took "Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone" (a tribute to Rod Serling's TV show) to number 4 on the club charts. The following year they hit number 6 with a cover of the Ad-Lib's hit "Boy From New York City." And again in 1983 they hit number 29 on the club play charts with "Spice Of Life." With the state of dance music these days it's highly unlikely we'll ever see M.T. score another club hit. But thankfully jazz fans have them, still together, recording and releasing great albums. |
