| Born in 1924 Hopkins got her first taste of success in 1951 singing blues & jazz. By 1959 she was on Braodway in "Jazz Train" and a successful career as a stage actress/singer followed. Roles in "Purlie" (1970), ""Inner City" (1972) and "Me And Bessie" (1974) earned her numerous awards and critical acclaim. By 1977 the spritely diva released the 12" single "It's In Your Blood." Actually quite a good disco cut, but it's apparent that Linda's forte is in standards and jazz. The warm, funny and beloved entertainer is still active, aside from her big revues she is still very much in demand in Jazz clubs, on festivals and in TV shows. |
