| England's Leo Sayer (born Gerard Sayer) had a string of highly polished mainstream pop hits in the 1970's. "Long Tall Glasses" managed to break Sayer into the American Top Ten in early 1975. In 1976 he hit the club and pop charts with "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" which hit #-1 without the aid of a 12" single. The following year he released the 12" single of "Thunder In My Heart." The song hobbled to #-38 on the Top 40 and failed to crack the disco charts. He had one more shining moment when in 1980 "More Than I Can Say" parked at #-2 for four weeks. After laying low for the rest of the decade, he attempted a comeback in 1990 with "Cool Touch," yet it fell on deaf ears. His rocky road has seen his marriage crumble in 1985, his musical partnership with Adam Faith come unglued in 1986 and a split from his major record label in 1987. Still Leo tours, records and performs all over the world to delighted fans. |
