| Herb Jimmerson (Paradise Express) Born: 9-20-1946 Died: 7-21-1998 ...of an accidental drowning. |
| Herb Jimmerson was by all accounts a nice, easy going family man. The Kansas born Jimmerson met Vi Ann when both were teens. Together the two would leave their footprints on disco history as Paradise Express. Herb and Vi married sometime in the early 1960's. They would remain together through ups and downs until his untimely death. Together they had three daughters, Ann (1963), Christy (1965) and Robin (1967). The daughters would often accompany them on their recording dates. Ann related to me how after the release of the first Paradise Express album that she and her sisters would take it to the local skating rink for the DJ to play. Herb, an exceptional musician, not only produced, arranged and played keyboards for the couples own records, but can be heard on other recordings like Idris Muhammed's 1980 release. Prior to his passing he had produced two Chistian albums for the Harvest Church in Riverside and was a spokesman for Kurzweil Synthesizers. Sadley we lost Herb in 1998 in a freak accidental drowning while with his beloved Vi in the Sequoias. He is survived by his three daughters, Vi Ann (who has recently remarried) and the millions of fans who enjoyed his music. Our hats off to you Mr. Jimmerson.....thank you! |
