Hazell Dean
Hazell has been around singing since the 1970's. However it wasn't until 1983 that American audiences became familiar with her via "Searchin' (I Got Find A Man)". I had the opportunity to bring her to Chicago in 1984. Despite my love of her records and appreciation of her talent she was a crass and rude woman. And her manager/partner (?) was even worse. While researching her for this page I came across several articles and reading her quotes I can see that my personal assumption of her wasn't far off. In those articles she comes off as vain and self absorbed. Reading them you'd have thought she was the Edith Piaf of disco! Still I can't help loving that voice, and I'm not here to bash her, really I'm not. Some people that are in the public just need to be reminded that who and what you are will always come to light. 'Nuff said...Hazell I still think you're awesome as a singer and I hope that you've learned to deal with your miniscule moments of fame?
