| Goody Goody featuring Denise Montana |
| Nepotism is thought of as a dirty word, bad, not to be done. But when your dad is Vincent Montana Jr. and your Denise Montana nepotism is good...or should I say "Goody Goody?" Denise is one of my two favorite unheralded singers from the disco-era. The other being Michelle Aller (the voice on Cerrone's "Call Me Tonight"). Denise can sing...boy can she sing. She first got my attention as the voice on the perennial holiday classic "Merry Christmas All" by the Salsoul Orchestra. When Vince parted ways with Salsoul and the Cayre brothers he started doing different projects such as the one-off "Goody Goody." The album spawned two major hits, both released as 12" singles. The first was "#-1 Dee Jay" which shot up the club charts and gave Denise alot of television exposure as the vocalist. The second was "It Looks Like Love" which was similar to Chic's "Dance, Dance, Dance." Both helped push the album up the charts and made Denise a club-friendly voice if not a name. Vince would continue on doing one-off productions such as Montana's "I Love Music" and "A Dance Fantasy Inspired By Close Encounters Of The Third Kind." Denise would often lend her voice to dad's musical outings and continue singing well into today. To read more about Denise and to order her newest discs visit her website below. Thanks Denise for giving me, (and disco music), several of my all-time favorite songs. |
