| A teen heartthrob from an early age, Donny has matured into a well respected, and still gorgeous, entertainer. The road has been long and filled with many ups and downs. The early years were filled with many number one hits both with his brothers, his sister and alone. A definite low point was the 1976 album "Disco Train." The cover depicted a purple socked Donny pumping a piano on the train tracks as a train appproached. The inane cover about sums the whole album up. A 1978 12" ("On The Shelf")with Marie did somewhat better but disco was not his forte back then. After many hit-less years Donny rebounded in 1988 with "Soldier Of Love." The surprising success brought Donny to a whole new generation of fans. 1989 brought the hit "Hold On" and "My Love Is A Fire" and "Sure Lookin'" were hits in 1990. By then Donny was supremely back in the public eye when he took the part in "Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." To say Donny was a hit is an understatement. I personally saw it 5 times as it ran here in Chicago for over a year. Since then Donny has gone back to talk shows and game shows and still records. |
