Bonnie Forman
This is a first......I haven't been able to even find a picture of Bonnie Forman to include on this page! Despite a string of very successful disco hits she never garnered an album release. So we don't even have a cover pic.
What's more bizarre is that with her success.....there is literally NO documentation of her anywhere. No websites, no reviews, no articles...zilch!
Hopefully one of our loyal viewers can add to this page with any knowledge or pics of Miss Forman.
Here's a listing of her most popular recordings. She first came to the public's attention with her 1982 Columbia Records 12" release of
"All Night." The track was produced by powerhouses Ed O'Laughlin (Carol Douglas-Amber-etc.) and Kenny Laguna (Joan Jett-Bow Wow Wow-Greg Kihn-etc.). The track did fair on the club scene thanks to a remix by Mark Berry and Denny O'Connor. But failed to ignite a sales storm. Oddly enough the track was also issued on Wave Records with a long and short set of mixes. A second single on Wave did even better, "Walk Away" (also in 1982) was more in the higher energy vein that would later be her trademark.
Bonnie found her niche when she hooked up with power-producer Bobby "O" (Orlando) in 1984. The duos first collaboration was the tasty
"I Want A Man." The high energy track quickly shot up the club charts making her a well-known club name, something her previous releases failed to do.
Hot on the heels of that release she chose to record a cover song for her second Memo Records release.
"I Only Have Eyes For You" is given the "O" high energy and rates as my favorite of her releases and one of the best of Bobby's productions.
A final Memo 12" single finished out 1984 and apparently her affiliation with Orlando and by all accounts her recording career. A delightful
"Christmas Medley" was perfect for the holidays. A sprinkling of standards backed with Orlando's high energy percussive tracks makes it a holiday club favorite.
Our hats off to Miss Forman....wherever she is we hope that she is happy, healthy and still singing. If anyone has any additional information or a picture please help us document her brief but exciting career.
