Barry Manilow
The undisputed king of schmaltz in the 1970's. Barry got his start doing jingles and working for "The Divine Miss M." But with a talent like his you knew it was only a matter of time before he went solo. Racking up love songs was his forte, but he too could cut a great disco record. He had people dancing with "It's A Miracle" from his 1974 second album. In 1978 he conquered the dance floor with "At The Copa," in fact it was so popular that Arista also released a 12" single in Spanish, "En El Copa." Peppered between the ballads were the 12" singles "You're Looking Hot Tonight"(1984), "I'm Your Man"(1986), "Hey Mambo"(1988) and "I'd Really Love To See You Tonight"(1997).
