| Released on the tailend of the "disco-era", the album is a wondeful blend of tribal effects and high energy beats. As with many releases during the disco era, this was not an actual group. A collection of studio musicians fronted by the vocal powers of Brenda Hill (she can be heard on disco hits by Rose Royce, Bonnie Boyer and Strange Affair) and Carolyn Mitchell (she can be heard on disco hits by Gary Criss, Ray Dahrouge, Joey Travolta and many others). The musicians were: Grant MacAvoy (drums), Vinnie Fay (bass), Miguel Fuentas-Grant MacAvoy-James Walker (Percussion), John Blake (violins) and Richie Rome (keyboards). The album was recorded in Philadelphia at Alpha International Recording Studios and released in 1980. Because disco music was in transition probably accounts for the lack of a 12" single release. Or the fact that the tracks were sufficent in length. Produced, arranged and conceived by Richie Rome, who also wrote the music, with lyrics supplied by Russ Faith. Rome is best remembered for giving birth to the Ritchie Family and numerous other disco classics. Rome, alive and well, was most recently arranger for the soundtrack to "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown," the 2002 documentary about legendary Motown musicians. |
