One of my all-time favorite songs is "Keep On Dancing" by Gary's Gang. The song, when played today, sounds as fresh as it did over a quarter of a century ago. It still gives me chills when I hear it. So imagine my surprise and joy when Gary contacted my recently. After exchanging e-mails I happy to report that Mr. Turnier is alive and well and still involved in music, though not as a career. We thank him for his kind words about The DiscoMuseum and wish him all the best in whatever he does.
Hi Dan,
Thanks for responding so quickly. After the end to Gary's Gang, I continued to produce such records as "This Beat Is Mine" by Vicky D, "Feel Alright" by KOMIKO, and "Rock Shock" by BBCS&A. In addition, I played drums on a tune titled "Love Insurance" by Front Page. In 1984 I started my own label called TNT Records with featured artists as Neecy D and Butch Cassidy. In 1985, I began my teaching career with the NYC Board of Education. Currently I am the owner of numerous summer day camp programs throughout the area. I am sporadically in touch with Bob Forman (Gary's Gang-Sax) when I, or someone needs a wedding band. Other than that, I am enjoying life with my family and friends spending as much time as I can at my home in East Hampton, LI. It's hard not to look back on the ups and downs of your life, but believe it or not the years of Gary's Gang were a great education. It actually made be a much wiser and better person.
Sincerely,
Gary |
